Systematic Botany is a peer-reviewed scientific journal covering research in systematic botany. It is published quarterly by the American Society of Plant Taxonomists.Systematic Botany was established in the spring of 1976 under the leadership of Founding Editor-in-Chief William Louis Culberson (Duke University). The current editor-in-chief is James F. Smith (Boise State University).Since 1980, the American Society of Plant Taxonomists has also published Monographs on Systematic Botany, a peer-reviewed series of monographs on taxonomy.
