The Journal of Modern Chinese History (semi annual), founded in 2007, is sponsored by the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. This magazine publishes original articles on the study of modern Chinese history, covering a wide range of topics including 19th and 20th century Chinese politics, economy, society, culture, thought, diplomacy, military, art, local history, gender studies, and other fields. The primary goal of this journal is to bring Chinese academia to the world. It is a publication with Chinese characteristics, expressing the voice of China, and fully internationalized. This magazine responds to the call of the central government for Chinese academia to "go global", timely spreads the mainstream views of Chinese academia, takes the initiative in international academic and cultural exchanges, and serves the construction of a cultural power and the expansion of national soft power.
