Human intervention in the control of water for sustainable agricultural development involves the application of technology and management approaches to: (i) provide the appropriate quantities of water when it is needed by the crops, (ii) prevent salinisation and water-logging of the root zone, (iii) protect land from flooding, and (iv) maximise the beneficial use of water by appropriate allocation, conservation and reuse. All this has to be achieved within a framework of economic, social and environmental constraints. The Journal, therefore, covers a wide range of subjects, advancement in which, through high quality papers in the Journal, will make a significant contribution to the enormous task of satisfying the needs of the world’s ever-increasing population. The Journal also publishes book reviews.
在可持续农业发展用水控制方面的人为干预涉及应用技术和管理办法,以便:(i)在作物需要时提供适量的水,(ii)防止根区盐碱化和水涝,(iii)保护土地免受洪水,以及(iv)通过适当的分配、保护和再利用,最大限度地利用水资源。所有这些都必须在经济、社会和环境限制的框架内实现。因此,《日刊》涵盖广泛的主题,通过在《日刊》上发表高质量的论文,这方面的进展将对满足世界日益增长的人口的需要这一艰巨任务作出重大贡献。《华尔街日报》还出版书评。
