Development Economics is a multidisciplinary development research journal that publishes original research reports on issues related to developing countries, transition and emerging economies, and pre takeoff developed countries. Its characteristic is to welcome both quantitative articles supported by statistical evidence and qualitative articles based on new data and/or profound understanding of specific countries, regions or events, which explain new hypotheses, viewpoints or insights. We hope that such qualitative articles can encourage future research to adopt more rigorous empirical methods.Development economics not only focuses on economic theory, but also emphasizes empirical research and policy formulation to solve practical problems. Researchers in this field typically use quantitative and qualitative research methods to evaluate the effectiveness of different development strategies and provide a basis for policy-making.
